Maverick announced the introduction of limited water use today due to the dangerously low water levels in the reservoirs. According to Bloomberg's agency, Maverick, which relies on water for sugar production and agriculture, usually faces drought in the first half of the year and has previously implemented such measures. In a statement from the Central Water Authority, which was published yesterday, it is stated: "As a result of the latest analysis of the water sample, it was found that the average level of reservoirs has reached a critical point of 43%." The organization also noted that the situation with surface waters poses a particular threat. The Central Water Authority reported that some rivers overflowed in the Port-Louis area. Due to severe drought and critical water levels, access to water will be limited to fourteen hours a day starting from today.
